The Luna Open Air Cinema FAQs

Tickets

How do I book tickets?

Tickets for all our screenings can be booked via our website www.thelunacinema.com

To book, simply choose your venue and the movie you wish to see, choose the number of tickets you want, and follow through with the payment. Once you’ve completed your purchase, you will get an order confirmation email sent to your inbox. And just like that, you’ve secured your perfectly scripted night out.

How will I get my tickets?

If you have booked through The Luna Cinema website, you will receive an order confirmation email from orders@thelunacinema.com. Please have the barcodes (found in the PDF attached to your email) ready upon arrival so that they can be scanned.

What is the difference between seated admission and admission?

Our seated admission ticket includes access to the event plus the hire of a director chair. On the day, collect your director’s chair from the bar and pick the perfect spot.

Our admission ticket includes access to the event only – so feel free to bring your own blanket or seating if you would prefer (please note, we do not allow tables, tents or gazebos to be brought to our screenings). Various upgrade options are available from our Upgrades page.

Do you offer a discount for carers?

Yes. We offer half price admission tickets for disabled guests and their carer. You will be able to select this as a ticket type while you book. This is for standard admission only. Please note that you may be asked to provide proof of disability upon arrival.

What is the age range for a child ticket type?

A few selected Luna venues offer a small range of films suitable for children with a child’s admission rate. Children attending these screenings aged 3 to 15 will need a ticket. Children under the age of 3 do not require a ticket unless stated otherwise.

We love to see children experiencing the joy of cinema. However, they do have to meet the film’s age-certification requirements. You will be able to see the certification of your film as you book. You may also prefer to attend a film within Luna Kids this summer.

What if I can no longer attend the screening?

Life is unpredictable and we understand that things can get in the way. That being said, all tickets are non-refundable unless the event is cancelled. If an event is cancelled, you will be notified via email or SMS. Please visit our T&Cs for more information.

I’ve got a question about my ticket I can’t find the answer to?

If you need to get in touch with the customer support team, you can contact us here.

Please note we also sell tickets through other ticketing partners, so if you have bought a ticket on a different platform, please contact the ticket issuer with your question directly (you will be able to see this on your ticket confirmation).

Do you offer a discount for groups?

For group bookings of 12 or more people, we offer a 10% discount. The group ticket is available to book online. (Excludes Chester Zoo and Regent’s Park).

About the Screenings

When can I arrive at the screening?

Doors usually open an hour and a half before the scheduled start. This gives you enough time to pick the perfect spot, grab some delicious food & drink from our onsite bar, and soak up the ambience. Please check your ticket to confirm the doors open time for your screening.

For your own and everyone’s safety, security checks and bag searches will be conducted as you enter the event site so allow additional time.

Is there wheelchair access ?

Yes,  all our sites have wheelchair access. Please note that some of our outdoor venues may have some uneven ground. Please let us know if you require any additional support and our on-site staff members will be more than happy to help.

Is there parking available?

Yes, there is parking available. However, it is important to note that parking arrangements vary for each of our venues. To find out about the parking information for the venue you’ll be attending, please visit the relevant venue page.

Are there toilet facilities?

Yes, we have toilets and accessible toilets on site. Do ask an on-site member of staff to direct you to the facilities.

What happens if it rains?

The Great British Summer can be unpredictable but that doesn’t stop Luna. Please make sure to check the weather forecast in advance and come prepared. Screenings will always go ahead in the event of bad weather. If the weather catches us by surprise, we have ponchos to give out at the ready. We do ask that you don’t bring umbrellas as they block the view for other customers.

Screenings will only be cancelled if the weather conditions present a danger at screening time. In the unlikely event that a screening is cancelled, we will give as much notice as possible and you will be notified of cancellation by SMS and/or email. Please visit our T&Cs for more information.

Can I bring children to the screening?

We screen a range of films, and love to see children experiencing the joy of cinema. However, they do have to meet the film’s age-certification requirements. You can check the certification of your film as you book your tickets.

Why not bring them to our daytime Luna Kids Cinema? Fun for all the family to enjoy. Find out what we are screening for children: Luna Kids Cinema.

Will there be food & drink?

Luna has got everything covered, right down to the drinks. Visit our onsite bar that offers a wide range of alcoholic drinks, soft drinks, as well as hot drinks if you prefer a good cuppa

We also have a delicious selection of hot food and all the classic movie snacks available. To find out what is being served at your venue simply head over to your venue page.

Can I bring my own food & drink?

This is your night to script how you want. You’re always welcome to bring your own food. Why not have a picnic? Though we ask that you leave any glass bottles and sharp cutlery at home.

Whilst we don’t allow pre-purchased alcohol onsite, if you do find yourself with a nice bottle of white, you will be asked to leave it at the entrance. Luna are not able to take responsibility for any items left with us and we ask that guests do not bring pre-purchased alcohol to the site.

Can I bring something to sit on?

Yes, you are welcome to bring backrests, chairs, or blankets to watch the film. If you prefer to travel light, we have blankets and various seating upgrades available to hire or buy, all of which can be found on the website or alternatively purchased onsite subject to availability.

Please note, we do not allow tables, tents or gazebos to be brought to our screenings.

Can I bring my dog to the screening?

We know it can be tough to leave those cute furry faces behind, but unless they are registered assistance dogs, they’ll have to sit this one out.

What can't I bring?

We want everyone visiting The Luna Cinema to have an amazing evening, and we are privileged to work with historic attractions who have special considerations too. Please help us with this by taking note of our following restrictions:

  • You cannot bring your own alcohol. However, alcohol will be available to purchase at our bar;
  • Do not bring any bottles, glass containers, or other glassware;
  • Animals are not allowed (apart from assistance dogs);
  • Please do not bring umbrellas – we recommend ponchos and raincoats in the case of a rainy evening;
  • Items with an open, naked flame are not allowed. This includes BBQs, gas/camping stoves, LPG, candles, sky lanterns, and open fires;
  • Fireworks, laser pens, and laser equipment are not allowed;
  • Please do not bring tents, gazebos, parasols or pop-up structures;
  • Any item our team considers could be used as a weapon (including sharp and pointed items – such as knives) will be confiscated;
  • Our venues are all drug-free sites. Please do not bring any controlled substances as you will not be permitted to enter;
  • Recording Equipment is not allowed;
  • Sponsorship, promotional or marketing material for any other business, event or activity is not permitted.

Please note that we conduct bag checks at the arrival point, and you may not be allowed to enter if you have prohibited items with you.

Will there be subtitles?

Where we show foreign language films, we will always display subtitles in English.

For hearing-impaired customers, we recommend the use of a great little app called ‘Subtitle Viewer’ where you can search for the film and play the subtitles as the film plays on the big screen.

Can I smoke at the event?

If you wish to smoke or vape, please speak to one of our on-site team who will allow you to leave the site and readmit you when you are finished. Please dispose of your rubbish responsibly.

Why do you use headphones for your screenings at Kew Gardens?

Since the gardens are still active during the day, we use headphones for our daytime screenings so that the sound doesn’t disturb Kew Gardens guests.

Everyone who has booked a ticket will be given a pair of headphones. If you are bringing children under the age of three, it is important that you book a free ticket for them so we can ensure they get a pair of headphones too.
